Convenient and confidential asthma inhalers consultation

Asthma inhalers.

Inhalers are the main treatment for the relief of asthma. There are lots of different kinds of asthma inhalers.

The reliever inhalers (the blue inhalers) ease symptoms when you are breathless, wheezy or tight-chested. Blue inhalers are also called bronchodilators as they dilate (open) the airways. The main reliever inhaler is called salbutamol (brand Ventolin).

Steroid inhalers also called preventer inhalers are used to prevent symptoms from developing. You need to take steroid inhalers regularly which are usually taken twice a day. They’re your brown inhalers. Beclomethasone (brand Clenil) is the main steroid inhaler used in the UK to prevent asthma.

You can buy the generic salbutamol inhaler or branded Ventolin inhaler and/or Clenil (beclomethasone) inhalers online from our OnlineChemist private doctor. Are you using your blue or brown asthma inhalers correctly?

You can manage your symptoms better by technique right.

A short video from Asthma UK shows the proper inhaler technique:

Get it right:

  1. Shake the inhaler well.
  2. Sit or stand up straight and slightly tilt your chin up as it helps the medicine reach your lungs.
  3. Breathe out gently and slowly away from the inhaler until your lungs feel empty and you feel ready to breathe in.
  4. Put your lips around the mouthpiece of the inhaler to make a tight seal.
  5. Start to breathe in slowly and steadily and, at the same time, press the canister on the inhaler once.
  6. Continue to breathe in slowly until your lungs feel full.
  7. Take the inhaler out of your mouth and with your lips closed hold your breath for up to ten seconds or for as long as you comfortably can.
  8. Then breathe out gently away from your inhaler.
  9. If you’ve been prescribed a second puff wait 30 seconds to a minute and shake the inhaler again, then repeat the steps.
  10. When you have finished replace the cap on the inhaler.
  11. If you’ve used an inhaler that contains steroids rinse your mouth with water and spit it out to reduce the chance of side effects.
